Three kinds, one mechanic
A personal marker is yours, dropped on the Cruise map. A club trap is placed by a club admin and scores everyone in the crew. An event trap belongs to a rally and runs for the weekend. They all work the same way: pass it, and your peak speed through it goes to a best-per-driver board.
It catches you even at speed
The record radius is 45 m, and that number is the result of a real failure. A phone reports its position roughly once a second, so at 60 mph consecutive fixes land about 27 m apart — a tight circle can fall cleanly between two of them and never register. Detection measures the closest approach of the line between your last two fixes rather than the distance from the fixes themselves, so a pass counts even when no single fix landed inside the ring.

You get told before and after
Five hundred metres out you get a heads-up that a marker is coming, so the pass isn't a surprise. Once you're through, a notification tells you the speed that was logged, and tapping it opens the leaderboard.
Common questions
Why 45 metres?
Because a smaller ring misses passes. At 60 mph a phone's GPS fixes are roughly 27 m apart, so a 35 m circle can fall entirely between two of them. 45 m, combined with measuring the closest approach of the line between fixes, catches a pass reliably without being so wide it logs the next road over.
Is this a speed camera warning app?
No. Markers are places drivers choose — a corner exit, a climb, a stretch of road worth comparing. They exist to score a drive among friends, not to detect enforcement.
Can my whole club use one marker?
Yes. A club admin can place a club trap, and every member who drives past it appears on that trap's board. Events can have their own traps for the weekend.
