A GPX file that other software actually accepts

The file is GPX 1.1 with your named stops as waypoints and the road itself as a track, written at six decimal places — about 11 cm. It was validated against the official GPX 1.1 schema from topografix.com rather than just eyeballed, because well-formed XML and a file a Garmin will open are not the same thing. Share it wherever you like: Files, AirDrop, email, or straight into another app.

One tap builds a Google Maps directions link for the route and opens it — in the Google Maps app if you have it, in the browser if you don't. Google caps a directions link at ten stops, so a longer route is thinned evenly rather than cut short, and the app tells you it simplified it.

• Start and finish are always kept exactly — truncating would change where the drive ends
• Intermediate stops are thinned evenly so the shape of the route survives
• Works whether or not the Google Maps app is installed

Recorded drives too

Export isn't limited to routes somebody planned. A drive you recorded has a real driven line, and that exports as a track as well — so the road you actually took, corner for corner, is the thing you hand to your other device.
